On Matchday 10 of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain hosted RC Lens at the Parc des Princes (1-0 video highlights here). On the sidelines of the match, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV about his players’ performance.
Luis Enrique “We took the three points, it was difficult”
“There’s no doubt about it. It’s a very interesting day for us, because it’s difficult to beat all the opponents. It’s not always the strongest teams that win, and today was perfect. We took the three points, it was difficult. But I think the team’s attitude and behaviour were perfect.”
Luis Enrique “it’s practically a final for us”
“The best way to approach a match is to have won the previous one. I think we’ve been able to prepare and now we’ll have time to prepare for the Champions League match.
And it’s clear that it’s practically a final for us, we intend to play a good game and can’t wait to see our fans again.”
PSG dominated proceedings on Saturday, giving their opponents not a single chance. Obviously, the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story, as the Parisians won by just a single goal. Lens keeper Brice Samba put in an XXL performance, for with 8 shots on target, the club from the capital only won by one goal.
This has clearly been the trend in recent games for the capital club. The scoreline doesn’t really reflect their domination or the shape of the match.
What’s more important is the team’s performance, which was very convincing on Saturday. It’s a performance they’ll have to repeat this Wednesday, November 6, when they take on Atlético de Madrid in what promises to be a crucial Matchday 4 of the Champions League.
