On Matchday 25 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-3 defeat against Monaco at the Parc des Princes. A painful loss that tightens the title race.

PSG dominated, but (once again) lacked clinical finishing. They also made some costly errors, allowing Monaco to find a way through. The Monegasques, full of energy and eager for revenge, capitalized on these mistakes.

Lens also secured a deserved home victory against a struggling bottom-of-the-table side. Some will say the title race is “back on,” but it was never truly over. We had hoped, however, that PSG would maintain their lead for longer.

Behind the leading duo, Lyon had to snatch a disappointing draw despite dominating possession (14 shots to 8, 60% possession, and 8 corners to 2), but lacking the finishing touch. At least a penalty from Corentin Tolisso in stoppage time prevented a worse outcome. Meanwhile, Paris FC will rue their missed opportunity, coming so close to a major upset.

For their part, Olympique de Marseille took advantage of the situation to move into third place, avenging their defeat to Toulouse just after their elimination in the Coupe de France quarter-finals. This helps to ease the crisis somewhat and puts them back in contention for European qualification, while Toulouse continues to fall further behind with six matches without a win. This run is a far cry from Rennes’ record, who notched their fourth consecutive victory since Habib Beye’s departure. And they did so in style, against a still-worrying Nice side.

The worst performances at the top of the table were for Lille, with a frustrating draw against Lorient, and Strasbourg. The Alsatian club continues to struggle for a win before their Europa League Conference matches, and it was a real flop for Auxerre, even though this team is capable of showing flashes of brilliance despite frequently making significant errors. This time, Auxerre earned a valuable point in their fight against relegation.

The battle is becoming increasingly worrying for Le Havre after another defeat against a Brest side that can now breathe a sigh of relief. The same goes for Angers, who confirmed Nantes’ trajectory towards relegation.
