This Friday, April 3rd, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) faces Toulouse (9th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 8:45 PM, CET) for Matchday 28 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. And as before every match, here’s a look at the Parisians’ opponent.
Toulouse’s situation –
Arriving in the summer of 2023 to replace Philippe Montanier, who had finished in a very respectable 13th place with 48 points, while also winning the Coupe de France, coach Carles Martinez Novell has managed to establish himself with a very solid team since last season, but with some offensive weaknesses. This allowed them to finish in a comfortable 10th place in the 2024-2025 season and currently sit in 9th place, with a slightly more convincing attack.
The goal is always to improve, even if this club doesn’t yet seem quite ready for European competition, with a lack of consistency proving costly. However, it’s not over yet thanks to a certain collective strength, not to mention the upcoming French Cup semi-final. The quality of the work done without significant investment during the transfer window should be highlighted.

Restes
Toulouse’s playing style.
Carles Martinez Novell, who came through the youth ranks at FC Barcelona, likes to rely on a solid, compact unit, with a game based on quick passing. It’s often difficult to break down this team, but they don’t particularly dominate possession. We can expect a match where PSG has a lot of the ball and must find solutions with a lot of pace and precision to create chances.
It’s far from an easy match to start the season right after the international break. Not to mention that Toulouse also possesses some quality on the ball. The Parisians will have to coordinate their efforts well to ensure their pressing is effective and remain alert to counter-attacks.
