Paris Saint-Germain faced Liverpool FC this Saturday evening at the Parc des Princes for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. A dominant Paris side delivered a controlled performance, completely stifling the English team. Despite a glaring lack of finishing, the capital club easily won 2-0. PSG midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery shared his initial post-match impressions with Canal+. He took the opportunity to discuss his current form and the challenges of the evening.
Zaïre-Emery: “We’ll go there with the same intentions.”
A touch of frustration?
Yes, we could have scored more. It’s a shame, but 2-0 is already a good result; nothing is decided yet. We’ll go there with the same intentions. We’ll try to win the match because they’re a difficult team to play against, and you never know what can happen during a game. We need to be serious and do the same thing we did here.
Surprised by their strategy?
No, we expected it. We always try to prepare for the match the same way. We always look for opportunities and we play with intensity and pressure. We tried to play as high up the pitch as possible in the opposition’s half. I think we did that well and we created a lot of chances, but we should have converted them. But we’re happy with this 2-0 win.
“I’m still getting stronger”
Do you feel like you’re in the best form of your career right now?
Honestly, I’d say I’m doing well with the run of matches. It’s good for me, I’m still getting stronger, and there’s still a lot of room for improvement. I’m going to continue doing the same thing and always give everything for the club.
