Paris Saint-Germain secured a 3-1 victory over Le Mans this Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 6 of the 2026-2027 Ligue season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to Ligue1+.
Luis Enrique: “I have to congratulate Patrick Videira”
You predicted that things would be tricky after the international break and in this match against Le Mans—it turns out you weren’t far off, were you?
The first thing I want to highlight is the Le Mans team. They played very well; they are very brave. I have to congratulate Patrick Videira, because it’s a fine team and it was a tough match. But I think we did everything necessary to win.
Luis Enrique: “Managing the workload regarding minutes played.”
Do you feel you took risks by fielding a lineup with players who had less recent game time?
After the international break, the most important criterion for us is managing the workload regarding minutes played. Naturally, that leads to player combinations we don’t usually see. They aren’t used to playing together, but that’s normal; in top-level football, there are always risks.
Luis Enrique: “It’s not easy playing this kind of match”
Regarding the introduction of the “Fantastic Four” after the 60th minute—it has to be said, the intensity ramped up at that point, didn’t it?
I’m certain that if we had done the opposite—if the “Fantastic Four” had started the match and the four players who came off had come on instead—the dynamic would have been exactly the same. That’s football for you; it’s not easy playing matches like this, but it’s important for us to keep winning—these are three important points.
Especially with the busy schedule coming up?
We’re used to it; we enjoy playing these kinds of matches. We like balancing the different competitions and striving to be competitive all the time.
