Lucas Hernandez, 28-year-old defender for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team, was injured at the end of last season in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately, he ruptured the anterior ligament in his left knee, and will be out for months. However, according to Le Parisien, his absence is likely to be shorter than feared .

“According to our information, the 28-year-old French defender is set to resume sessions with the rest of Luis Enrique’s squad next week, when he returns from the international break. The 2018 world champion is even ahead of his recovery times and the protocol previously established by the PSG medical staff.

Lucas Hernandez no longer feels any pain and will therefore be able to take his place in training very soon.”

A welcome piece of information that seems fairly certain (almost easy?), given that Hernandez is already training with the Espoirs squad this week. As have Presnel Kimpembe (29-year-old defender), who has generally been with the professional squad for some time, and Gonçalo Ramos (23-year-old striker). Both are also expected to return to competitive action relatively soon.

There’s no question of rushing things or taking any risks, but PSG’s infirmary should be nicely emptied. Let’s hope there’s no more bad news to compensate. These returns should facilitate rotation, increase competition and give coach Luis Enrique more options.
