Nuno Mendes (7) – Pacho (8) – Marquinhos (7) – Zaïre-Emery (8)
Safonov (7)
Apart from Vitinha, who received a rather harsh 5, the rest of the team’s performance was quite consistent. PSG defended a lot, and they did it well. The forwards were stronger defensively than offensively. Aside from the trio of Kvaratskhelia, Pacho, and Zaïre-Emery (clearly the key players for PSG in this match), the work of the other players cannot be dismissed. What PSG does is a collective effort.
The strategy was to limit the impact of an impressive Bayern Munich attack, and to do so, some principles had to be sacrificed. We saw a less aggressive PSG, defending higher up the pitch, very compact. This benefited an impressive Pacho. Note that Doué received the same rating as Dembélé, but let’s not be fooled; the Ballon d’Or winner wasn’t at his best. He scored, which is good and what we expect from him. As for the rest, we will have to get all the players back in shape for the upcoming deadlines, because history is in the making.
