PSG is officially champion, Paris FC is very likely 11th, so the sporting stakes are fairly limited. There is, however, the Parisian derby, which is a welcome return to Ligue 1 after a long absence. PSG will primarily be focused on managing playing time ahead of the Champions League final against Arsenal in May.

Right behind them, the tension will be higher with Lens (2nd) traveling to Lyon (4th). It’s a great match-up, even if Lens will have their minds on the Coupe de France final against Nice on May 22nd. Lyon will try to capitalize on this with a strong home performance to secure their Champions League qualification.

Therefore, the battle for survival promises to be intense. Lille (3rd) hosts Auxerre (15th), who desperately need a win to secure their place in Ligue 1. The fight will be fierce. The same goes for Rennes, 5th with a Champions League hope, and Olympique de Marseille, 6th, in crisis and fighting to maintain their European qualification.

Monaco (7th) could also benefit from a slip-up in Strasbourg (8th) in a very unpredictable match between two teams who have had disappointing end-of-season runs. It’s also worth noting that a victory for Lens in the Coupe de France would send the 7th-placed team to the Europa Conference League.

To achieve this, they will need to overcome Nice (16th), who appear to be on their last legs. Their defeat in Auxerre last weekend confirmed their difficulties and caused concern. They now have to try and climb out of the relegation playoff spot against Metz, 18th and already relegated. A slip-up by Le Havre (14th) against Lorient, who are in relatively good form in 9th place, would be a welcome boost. It’s difficult to know if Le Havre can bounce back after such a poor run of form.

Then there are the matches between Brest (12th) and Angers (13th), and Nantes (17th) and Toulouse (10th), which have no particular significance.
