Marquinhos, the 32-year-old central defender and captain of Paris Saint-Germain, stopped in the mixed zone after PSG’s 2-1 defeat against Paris FC this Sunday at the Stade Jean Bouin in Matchday 34 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season.
Marquinhos: “We weren’t at our best, especially in terms of commitment.”
How do you explain the defeat?
To be honest, we weren’t at our best, especially in terms of commitment. Even more so in the first half, where we created almost nothing. The coach said it at halftime, we weren’t at our best. But we have to stay positive. We can’t let our energy drop now, even though we lost. We have two weeks left to work hard and prepare for our main objective: the final.
Any news on Dembélé?
I don’t know, it’s best to wait for information from the club.
Marquinhos: “We’ll take this derby seriously.”
Is PFC really focused on the derby, but not PSG?
We’re competitive, we always want to win when we’re on the pitch. Even more so in a derby, even if we’re not used to it. We’ll take this derby seriously. It’s nice to have another team in Paris, nearby. They’re a very good team. All the matches against them have been very difficult. We tried to win, but both teams were at different stages. We were below par, they were better, and they deserved the victory.
Marquinhos: “We’ve been preparing since the beginning of the season.”
How do you prepare over the next 13 days?
We’ve been preparing since the beginning of the season. We shouldn’t think about last year. We’ll find solutions; we’ll play an internal match or a friendly. The club will release information.
We’re going to prepare in the best way possible. A Champions League final isn’t something you play every year. The preparation isn’t going to be a problem for us. Even though it’s our second consecutive final, it’s very difficult to get this far. We have to enjoy this moment.
We have a very important goal to achieve. It won’t be an easy match. Arsenal is a very good team, and they were difficult to play against last season. This year, they’ve shown that they’re still at the same level, if not better. We have to prepare well, stay motivated, and see what we can do better than in that match, what lessons we can learn.
