Vakhtang Jagorashvili, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s U15 coach at Dinamo Tbilisi, was invited by Le Parisien to share his memories of the 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain and Georgian striker. One particular aspect that made all the difference was discussed.
“Kvaratskhelia had already defined his goal, while still enjoying himself.”
“He wasn’t the best. But he did one thing that set him apart: he was 100% committed, already so professional. I don’t remember a single training session where he wasn’t fully involved from start to finish. It felt like he had already defined his goal, while still enjoying himself.”
This is a common theme for those who reach the highest level: the difference lies in their determination. Of course, talent also plays a role. But other players have that. Then you have to stand out, have that extra something. Kvaratskhelia achieved this through dedication and fighting spirit, further highlighting his immense footballing qualities. As we see today, he is a particularly well-rounded winger.
The Georgian international is certainly capable of finishing a move solo with a magical dribble and an exceptional shot. But this never prevents him from defending energetically for his team, nor from thinking about setting up his teammates. We can only hope he continues in this vein, even if it’s hard to imagine Kvaratskhelia suddenly changing his mentality.
