After a fine 3-0 victory over Toulouse in Ligue 1, the Parisians are already looking ahead to their next match in Munich. A crucial encounter for the Red and Blue’s survival in the Champions League. An idea that doesn’t seem to worry João Neves, PSG’s 20-year-old midfielder.
PSG’s second trip to the Champions League is approaching. So far, their record has been mixed, with one win, one defeat and two draws. Paris Saint-Germain must therefore win this fifth matchday against a behemoth: Bayern Munich. After the victory over TFC, João Neves, voted man of the match, spoke confidently in the mixed zone:
“ It’s always important to win, and it gives us confidence going into the game against Bayern. I think we’re ready for this match and we’ll give it our all as always.
We’re PSG and we always want to win. The most important thing is to play our matches. Because we’ve always come close to winning when we’ve played like that. We haven’t studied Bayern yet, but we’re going to do so soon.”
Although reassuring, the victory does not provide total certainty about PSG’s performance against Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are on a six-match unbeaten run, the last of which came on October 23 against Barcelona (4-1). Far from being in the form of their lives, will the Rouge et Bleu be able to put Bayern to the sword?
It’s possible, they’ve got the weapons. Of course, they’ll need to be more effective than in recent European outings. At least, Barça showed a month ago that this Munich team has its flaws.
