The French national team secured a 2-0 victory over Morocco on Thursday night in the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals. After the game, Warren Zaïre-Emery—the 20-year-old midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain and Les Bleus—spoke to M6.
Zaïre-Emery: “These are the moments every kid dreams of playing in”
How did it feel to play?
I was very happy, very proud; these are the moments every kid dreams of playing in. The World Cup is the biggest competition there is; we’ve qualified for the semi-finals, so we’re going to celebrate that—while staying focused on what’s next (smiles).
Why are you laughing?
Because it’s important; you have to know how to unwind. That’s part of it, too. All while staying focused, because the goal is to reach the final.
Zaïre-Emery: “I didn’t give up; I always believed”
An impeccable attitude—is that part of why things are going so well?
It’s important. It’s a tough situation; every player wants to play and make a contribution. But those are the coach’s decisions. I didn’t give up; I always believed. If he needs me, I’ll always be there and ready.
