Zion Suzuki, the 23-year-old Japan and Parma goalkeeper (under contract until 2029), has been linked to a move to Paris Saint-Germain for the 2026 transfer window. The plan reportedly involves an immediate loan, potentially to Juventus. L’Équipe confirmed on Tuesday that this option is already under discussion as the Japanese player’s move to Paris takes shape.
PSG and Juventus have already discussed a potential loan for Suzuki.
“Negotiations between the Italian and French clubs have progressed in recent hours, and a deal could be finalized for around €35 million. Paris views the signing of the Japanese international as an investment in the future; consequently, Suzuki could be loaned out during his first season under contract. Alongside talks regarding Randal Kolo Muani’s transfer, PSG and Juventus have discussed Suzuki’s situation. Both clubs have been competing for the player for several weeks, though the Turin club acknowledges it is trailing in the race.
Juve has been seeking a goalkeeper for months but has struggled to finalize any leads. Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) was the top target, but the move stalled due to nearly insurmountable financial hurdles. Paris Saint-Germain could therefore finalize the signing of Suzuki—having already agreed on a five-year contract—before agreeing to loan him to Juventus for the upcoming season.”
Nothing is concrete yet, so a degree of caution is warranted; rumors alone do not provide a clear picture. However, the scenario is credible and far from far-fetched. PSG could be preparing for the future with a high-potential, rising goalkeeper, while Suzuki would secure a starting role at Juventus more easily than at Paris for the coming season—all while playing a significant part in a Juventus side aiming to return to the spotlight. Nevertheless, this still sends a specific message to Lucas Chevalier (24), who was signed a year ago as a long-term prospect but now appears all but sidelined. Would he want to stay and compete for the spot in the capital—potentially as the number two—knowing that the starting goalkeeper role might well be taken by someone else? There is still much to clarify regarding this situation, not to mention Matvey Safonov (27), who would be welcoming this new signing to PSG. We will have to wait for more clarity, especially since the move to PSG is not even a certainty yet.
