Zion Suzuki, the 23-year-old Japan and Parma goalkeeper (turning 24 on August 21; under contract until 2029), has recently been linked to Paris Saint-Germain, with a potential immediate loan to Juventus. Journalists Romeo Agresti and Gianluca Di Marzio, along with the newspaper L’Équipe, now report that this second step is in serious doubt.
Romeo Agresti:
Juventus: Today saw a halt in progress regarding the #Suzuki deal. We’ll see in the coming hours if it’s permanent. Meanwhile, the Bianconeri have resumed evaluating other options.
Di Marzio:
Zion Suzuki is drifting further away from Juventus. Discussions are now underway with Tottenham regarding a loan for Vicario.
L’Équipe:
Although everything was agreed between #PSG and Juventus, Zion Suzuki might ultimately stay in the capital. The deal has hit complications in the last few hours, and the Japanese keeper wouldn’t mind staying in Paris.
Nothing is certain until it’s concrete, and the Suzuki saga consists entirely of rumors—which inevitably raises doubts. For now, he isn’t even at PSG, even though the transfer seems fairly certain. Consequently, the loan to Juventus always seemed like a long shot. We aren’t really surprised to see that idea cooling off—though it shouldn’t be ruled out entirely, given that these are still just rumors.
It would be great to hear from the club or the Japanese international to clear things up. Unfortunately, we have to keep waiting for that. Let’s hope it happens soon. At least the end of the transfer window (September 1st) is gradually approaching.
