On Wednesday at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2–1 victory over Aston Villa in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup. As we now do after every match, we asked our readers to vote for the best PSG player of the game. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (the 25-year-old forward) won by a very narrow margin.
Kvaratskhelia claimed this honorary title by just two votes when the poll closed. He was not an unexpected winner, having scored a fine goal that capped off a top-class first-half performance. The second half was less impressive, though it certainly couldn’t be said that the Georgian failed to deliver. Consistency was perhaps what kept Désiré Doué (the 21-year-old midfielder/forward) from ranking higher; despite providing an assist and a goal, he paid the price for a poor start to the match.
While not decisive in attack, Warren Zaïre-Emery (the 20-year-old midfielder) impressed with his physical and defensive play. The academy graduate proved he had worked hard over the summer and is entering the season ready to help PSG win—no doubt hoping to secure a more prominent role on big Champions League nights. Everyone knows he possesses all the qualities needed to play a key part, even if it is as a substitute.
