On Sunday at the Stade Bollaert, Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-0 to Lens in the 2026 Trophée des Champions. As we now do after every match, we asked our readers to vote for the best PSG player of the game. Désiré Doué (a 21-year-old midfielder/forward) came out on top.

This result might come as a surprise, given that Doué faces heavy criticism from some supporters—largely due to several instances of losing possession while attempting overly complicated plays. However, others focus on the fact that he created multiple chances against an effective low block. It is a matter of perspective.
One might have expected Zaïre-Emery (a 20-year-old midfielder) to take the lead, as he draws no criticism; however, the academy graduate—despite playing a very good match—plays a less flashy role. As for the third-place finisher, Maghnes Akliouche (a 24-year-old attacking midfielder/winger), he displayed great comfort on the ball and posed a genuine threat. Naturally, he still needs to fine-tune his fitness and build chemistry with his teammates, but it is already a promising start for his second match with PSG.
Thank you all for voting. As a reminder, the top three players from each match are used to determine the Player of the Month.
