Since Paris Saint-Germain’s draw with Nantes on Saturday (1-1, Ligue 1 matchday 13), many media outlets have been reporting tension between coach Luis Enrique and several players. Unsurprisingly, journalist Daniel Riolo jumped at the chance to dramatize the situation on RMC Sport, slamming both the coach and the club.
Riolo “Choosing Luis Enrique is a mistake among many others.”
“Luis Enrique can’t undermine Dembélé. Today, the break is complete. Donnarumma ditto, it’s over. History will record that he fell out with him over Safonov. The darling Barcola turned against him. Today, there’s a breaking point.
I knew it would happen, but not so quickly and not all at once. Choosing Luis Enrique was just one of many mistakes.“
A period with so much negativity and Luis Enrique in the sights of many, Riolo couldn’t pass it up. Names had to be called, problems announced, even an explosion. All the while asserting that he knew it would happen.
Strangely enough, he was less aware that PSG were Champions League semi-finalists last season. Let’s not forget that the current one isn’t over and that Paris isn’t in a long run without soccer. There have been 2 games in a row without a win, not without a game.
But we know that these details are overlooked by many, especially in the media. It’s easier to “analyze” the score alone, and more appealing when it’s for negative buzz. It’s a sad state of affairs, but we have to live with it. A little hindsight and analysis would do us good, though.
