Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to Sky Sports Germany. He spoke of his confidence in his coach, Luis Enrique, and explained the Parisian club’s long-term strategy. He also formally denied rumours of tension within the squad.
Al-Khelaïfi “We currently have the best coach in the world”
“Luis Enrique?
We currently have the best coach in the world. He’s building a project for the future. We’re staying focused on our project.
The strategy for the future?
A great coach. We have a long-term plan with this coach. Our players are close-knit and it’s a fantastic group with a great atmosphere.
Al-Khelaïfi: “We’re building a team for the future”.
Rumours of tension?
There are a lot of rumours about the players, but we’re very clear. We’re building a team for the future. The media want to sell newspapers. But I believe in our project, our coach and our plan.”
It’s fair to say that the PSG president is keen to show his support for Luis Enrique. It’s not the first time he’s done so publicly. It’s a good thing, because there’s no point in throwing oil on the fire just yet. The team is growing, even if it sometimes seems to be stuck on one idea.
There are gaps in the squad, as everyone can see, and the Parisian president is certainly keen to bring the missing elements to Paris. As for the rumours of tension, he’s not going to validate them, that’s for sure, but he’s posing as a strong man by supporting his coach and reminding us that the media are there to sell their papers.
