Luis Enrique, the Paris Saint-Germain (11th) coach, held a press conference this Thursday ahead of tomorrow’s match against Monaco (1st) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 9:05 PM, CET) in Matchday 3 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. Alongside the event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “We might play better or worse, but we always have that mentality.”
A special mindset within the team? Do the players never give up?
I think that when talking about elite-level sport, that should be the minimum standard. However, it is always difficult not to be affected by the result and the circumstances. What we have shown since day one is precisely that mentality.
We might be more in sync, or play better or worse, but we always have that mentality. We started the season with two tough away games. Now, we are eager to play our first match at the Parc and make the most of the fans’ support. We want to win our first league match.
Luis Enrique: “It’s a pleasure to be back together.”
What can we expect against Monaco?
You always have to prepare well; we are aiming to put in a great performance. If we look back at past matches against them, there is a bad memory from a home game. That’s how the start of the season goes—perhaps tougher than expected. But I think that looking at the medium to long term, it’s perfect for us. We are seeing the challenges the season brings, and we will be ready. We will need our fans from the very first minute. We want the three points.
Eager to return to the Parc?
I can’t remember when the last match at the Parc was; it’s been a long time. It’s a pleasure to be back together. It’s important to remember the bond we share.
