On Matchday 14 of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain take on Auxerre at Abbé-Deschamps this Friday at 9pm. A match to boost confidence ahead of Europe. It’s also one of the few matches involving two teams from the same part of the table.

The match between PSG (1st) and Auxerre (8th) is one of the “tightest” of the day, at least in the standings, with many almost opposites clashing. We’ll need to take all 3 points, and with style, to boost our confidence before returning to the Champions League next Tuesday (against RB Salzburg).

And to put the pressure on the new 2nd-placed OM, who travel to Saint-Etienne, a 15th-placed team they can normally afford (and who don’t even have to think about Europe). Monaco (3rd) are also clear favourites at home to Toulouse (10th), although they should be wary of a team capable of anything.

4th-placed Lille, for their part, face a Brest side (11th) who seem to be struggling to cope with their busy schedule, but were able to regain confidence with a win last weekend.

Lyon (5th) are also favourites, as they travel to 14th-placed Angers. But beware, the Angevine team are on a roll and won’t be doing anyone any favours. And they’ll need to be on their toes, especially as Nice (6th) and Lens (7th) also look to be in good positions against Le Havre (16th) and Montpellier (18th).

Last but not least, there’s a Breton derby to keep the pressure on for Nantes (17th) and Rennes (12th). A win is needed for a breath of fresh air after last weekend’s positive results (a draw with PSG for Nantes and a 5-0 victory over Saint-Etienne for Rennes), while a defeat would send the team back into crisis.
