On Wednesday, during Matchday 1 of the 2026-2027 Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain faced Slovan Bratislava at the Parc des Princes. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu played with great composure and scored plenty of goals, they secured a 6-1 victory. Here are our ratings for the Parisian players.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (5.5) – A very quiet evening for the Parisian goalkeeper, who handled the few tasks required of him well. He could do nothing about the goal conceded.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (6) – He once again made numerous runs in both attack and defense, frequently posing a threat. He could have been a bit more precise in his execution to make a decisive impact. Replaced by Senny Mayulu in the 63rd minute.
Ilya Zabarnyi (4) – Not everything went wrong, but there were a few sloppy moments, and crucially, he was easily beaten on the play leading to the Slovakian goal.
Willian Pacho (6.5) – A quiet evening for the Ecuadorian defender, who handled the game well. Replaced by Lucas Hernandez in the 63rd minute.
Nuno Mendes (7) – The Portuguese player made a notable return, combining devastating forward runs with some excellent defensive recoveries. He played a key role in the opening goal, hitting the post with a superb strike that fell kindly for Ousmane Dembélé. Replaced by Lucas Digne in the 63rd minute.
Midfielders –
Vitinha (7) – The Portuguese midfielder ran the show with ease.
Dro Fernandez (7) – A very active performance, featuring ball recoveries and chances created. While he still needs to build physical strength, his progress is very promising.
Fabian Ruiz (7) – He started the match strongly but showed some lack of precision in the second half. He did manage to score a goal, though.
Forwards –
Maghnes Akliouche (7) – Highly involved and often precise, he served as a valuable link in the team’s play. He also provided a fine assist for Ferran Torres, though he could have scored himself in other situations.
Ousmane Dembélé (9) – He missed several chances, notably sending a few shots off-target. However, he was a major creative force, finishing the match with two goals and two assists to his name. You really couldn’t ask for much more. Replaced in the 63rd minute by Mika Godts.
Ferran Torres (9) – The Spaniard netted a hat-trick with clinical efficiency while also combining well with his teammates. A flying start to the Champions League campaign with PSG. Replaced in the 72nd minute by Lucas Beraldo.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (8) – His team put in a very professional performance, and he was able to manage his players’ minutes effectively. Ideally, one would have liked to see PSG remain sharper and avoid conceding a goal in the second half.
