Following Paris Saint-Germain’s matches in August—and continuing our established practice based on the “Man of the Match” vote results—we asked fans to vote for the “Player of the Month.” Marquinhos (the 32-year-old defender) came out on top.

PSG’s Player of the Month for August:
It was a narrow victory, though not particularly surprising. Marquinhos hit the ground running defensively and also scored two goals—something that always leaves a strong impression, especially during a period marked by a lack of attacking efficiency.
We were actually somewhat surprised to see an attacker on the podium; while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (25) was excellent against Aston Villa, he was rather disappointing for the rest of the month—particularly given that expectations were high for a player who hadn’t participated in the World Cup.
There was also a lack of players showing sustained good form. Warren Zaïre-Emery (the 20-year-old midfielder) could have ranked higher thanks to his consistency, but defensive work tends to be less memorable. He also had a mixed spell filling in at left-back.
