Ousmane Dembélé, the 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward, spoke to Ligue1+ following PSG’s 1-0 victory over Brest this Sunday at the Stade Francis Le-Blé during Matchday 4 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. The conversation covered the match itself, as well as the Ballon d’Or, the upcoming clash against Olympique de Marseille in a week’s time, and his teammate Ferran Torres (26).
Dembélé: “Matches against them have always been tough.”
It was a must-win game; did the manner of the victory reassure you?
Yes, our first three Ligue 1 matches were complicated. It was important to come here to Brest and get the win today. We know they’re a tough team; this is my fourth year here, and matches against them have always been difficult. Ajorque holds the ball up well as a number 9 and caused us problems. It was a good match today.
Dembélé: “I’ve never been voted for.”
Is your calm attitude regarding the Ballon d’Or a strategy?
I’ve always been like that—sitting at the back of the class, just working away. Throughout my career, I haven’t said a word; I’ve just worked incredibly hard. I’ve never been voted for, but I’ve put in a huge amount of work. Last year, I was rewarded with a fantastic season at Paris Saint-Germain. This year, we’ll see—no pressure.
Dembélé: “It’s always a special moment.”
A quick word on Le Classique?
Yes, it’s going to be a big match. I missed that game last year. Matches against Marseille are always special. Whether it’s at the Parc des Princes or in Marseille, the atmosphere is always intense, and we’re really looking forward to it.
Dembélé: “It’s very easy with him.”
The relationship with Ferran Torres?
Yes, we know each other very well from our time at Barcelona; I’ve played with him. He’s a very mobile forward. He’s a true goalscorer—a real number 9—but he can also play out wide. It’s easy playing with him; he makes excellent runs, which suits me since I like playing balls in behind the defense. It’s easy to find him; we communicate a lot, and things just flow very easily with him.
