Ferran Torres, the 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward, spoke to the press following PSG’s 2–1 victory over Olympique de Marseille this Sunday at the Stade Vélodrome, in Matchday 5 of the 2026–2027 Ligue 1 season.
Torres: “It’s one of the biggest matches of the season.”
An important but tough win—how are you feeling?
We’re very happy; it was important for us. For us and the fans, it’s one of the biggest matches of the season. We knew it would be difficult. We gave it our all and managed to win; this is for our supporters.
Did the season really start tonight? Do we have to wait to see the best version of the team?
We’re moving forward with every match; we’re making progress. We still have work to do; we know there’s a lot to be done. We only had half a pre-season, but that’s no excuse—we need to improve.
Torres: “The only way is to keep going.”
What’s the secret to your efficiency?
Just trying. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t. The only way is to keep going.
How did Luis Enrique explain your role as a substitute?
It doesn’t matter whether you start or come off the bench. What matters is that when you step onto the pitch, you give your all to help the team.
Torres: “We tried to give everything and score whenever we could.”
What about the atmosphere at the Vélodrome?
It was great; we love playing in that kind of atmosphere. It’s a source of motivation.
Did efficiency make the big difference?
We know matches like this are won on the little details. We tried to give everything and score whenever we could. We had plenty of chances to score.
Did you feel like this was a special match? Of course, it’s one of the biggest matches in France. I could feel the atmosphere during training with the fans at the Campus. We were ready for today, we gave it our all, and we won.
