Paris Saint-Germain (6th) head coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference this Friday ahead of tomorrow’s match against Strasbourg (11th) at the Stade de la Meinau (kick-off at 5:15 PM, CET), part of Matchday 7 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. Alongside the press conference, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “A wonderful collective effort.”
Did the fans love the first goal against Manchester City?
This is the kind of thing we do regularly; it’s not the first time we’ve aimed to play this way. The opposing team presses very high, and we look to leverage our own strengths. It was a wonderful collective effort. I love seeing how we celebrate goals like that—it’s beautiful. It’s a wonderful sport—a team sport.
I believe every player touched the ball—well, perhaps not Nuno Mendes or Ousmane Dembélé—but it was a beautiful sequence. Breaking through a high press is difficult, but if you execute a good play, it opens up a lot of space behind their defensive line. We took full advantage of that. I like all four goals; I don’t distinguish between them. Every goal is important.
Luis Enrique: “Our intention is to win and break into the top three.”
Is it difficult to strike a balance in Ligue 1 when playing between two Champions League matches?
It’s the tightest turnaround possible in the professional game. But it is what it is. It will be a tough match. Strasbourg is a different kind of side—very young and full of quality. It’s the perfect stage for them to showcase their abilities against us. We’ve had a good training session, despite the fatigue. Having to travel again adds another layer of complexity.
Our intention is to win and break into the top three. We’re pleased; the results are coming. At the start of the season, every shot we took went in. This time, luck was on our side. That’s the beauty of football—it’s unpredictable. We’re in a good run of form, and we want to keep it going.
