This Saturday at 5:15 PM (CET), Paris Saint-Germain (6th) will face Strasbourg (11th) at the Stade de la Meinau as part of the 7th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. In a press conference, Strasbourg defender Genesis Antwi (19)—on loan from Chelsea—spoke about the upcoming encounter and their Parisian opponents.
Antwi: “You shouldn’t look at what they’ve won in the past.”
How do you approach a match against a two-time European champion?
Naturally, I want to do my best. We’re feeling confident and preparing very well. You shouldn’t look at what they’ve won in the past; instead, you have to focus on the match ahead. We’re going to work hard and give it our all.
What needs to be done to ensure you remain competitive?
We need to listen carefully to the coach’s instructions—he knows what he’s doing. We hope that, through our tactics and hard work, we can achieve a positive result. We have faith in our group—both the players and the staff—to put in a strong performance.
Antwi: “I hope to elevate my level of play. It’s going to be a great match.”
Have you received any advice from Jörgensen (a Chelsea goalkeeper from last season, also currently on loan at Strasbourg) on how to prepare for this game?
Every day, beyond our discussions, we do a lot of video analysis. We know exactly what to focus on. They have top-tier players who move a lot and frequently drift out of their assigned positions. It’s up to me to account for that. We’re studying both their strengths and their weaknesses.
Have you ever faced players of this caliber before?
I’d have to say no (smiles). It’s a new challenge, and I need to make the most of it. There’s no need to be afraid; I have confidence in my own qualities, even though I know they are great players. I hope to be able to raise my level of play. It’s going to be a great match.
What are your takeaways from the match between City and PSG?
Everyone knows that PSG is a big team with a lot of quality. But we need to focus on what we have to do to get something out of the match. I’m focused on us.
