Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-2 victory over Manchester City this Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium during Matchday 2 of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase. Following the win, PSG manager Luis Enrique spoke to Canal+.
Luis Enrique: “I don’t like it when we’re winning 3-0 at halftime.”
How proud are you of your team?
It’s hard to say exactly, because the match had very different phases. In the first half, we showed what we want to do as a team against a strong Manchester City side.
We were far superior, but I don’t like it when we’re winning 3-0 at halftime. Because you start thinking the match is won, and a game at this level is never truly won until the end. We suffered a lot in the second half; they deserved to score more goals, and a stroke of bad luck could have cost us the match.
Luis Enrique: “It’s you—the journalists—who speak ill of him.”
Do great players step up in big matches? What did you think of Dembélé’s performance?
Ousmane is Ousmane. It’s you—the journalists—who speak ill of him. He is a unique player; he loves playing these kinds of matches. We are a team, and every player loves competing in this sort of tournament.
PSG vs. Barcelona: the two best teams going head-to-head?
Being the best team right now isn’t what matters; what matters is being the best team at the end of the season.
