Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-2 victory over Manchester City this Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium, as part of the second matchday of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase. Following the win, PSG manager Luis Enrique spoke to TNT Sports.
Luis Enrique: “I don’t like the situation at halftime.”
A wild match? A masterclass in the first half?
Yes, but it was very difficult. You have to give them credit. We started very well and managed to score three goals. That created a significant gap, but I don’t like that situation at halftime. You start thinking the match is settled, but it’s not over. They could have fought their way back, given the chances they created. It was a tough game against a truly great side—it’s a joy to watch them play.
Luis Enrique: “We were lucky. We need to improve.”
What are your thoughts on your team’s performance?
What I like is our mentality. We always want to play and win—in every match, regardless of the score. But today, we were lucky. We could have conceded more goals.
What do you take away from this match?
Football can be unfair at times. You need to find a balance in your performance. When you play away from home and concede that many chances, it’s difficult to win. We were lucky. We need to improve.
