This Tuesday, during the third matchday of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase, Paris Saint-Germain faced FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes. Anthony Gordon, the 25-year-old forward for the Spanish side, spoke to TNT Sports following PSG’s 4-2 victory.
Gordon: “They’ve been the team to beat for the last two years, and this match is a perfect example of why.”
An exciting match—but also a frustrating one, given how close you came to getting a result?
You could have predicted it would be a high-scoring, spectacular game. I was hoping we’d end up on the winning side, but they deserved the victory. They were the better team; they had better spells and more quality. I felt that, athletically, they were able to hold up better than we could. They’ve been the team to beat for the last two years, and this match is a perfect example of why.
What can you take away from this match?
There are positives to draw; we played well in what was a spectacular encounter. They’ve been the best side for two years now—we need to learn and analyze so that, eventually, we can become the team to beat.
Gordon: “The Champions League wasn’t decided tonight.”
Do you have a preferred position—out wide or through the middle?
It doesn’t matter; I enjoy playing in any position. That said, I don’t think I had a great game—I still have a lot of work to do. I want to deliver top performances on nights like this.
The silver lining is that there’s no time to dwell on it: you’ve got Real Madrid coming up on Sunday.
The good news is that the Champions League wasn’t decided tonight. It wasn’t the final. We still have many matches ahead, and we hope to face PSG again. Before that, we have an exciting match this Sunday.
