This week saw the third round of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase (find all the results here). Following the matches, UEFA is holding a vote for fans to select their standout player. Paris Saint-Germain—who secured a 4-2 victory over FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes this Tuesday—have no players among the nominees for “Player of the Week.” The contenders are Phil Foden (a 26-year-old attacking midfielder/winger for Manchester City), Nico Paz (a 22-year-old attacking midfielder for Como), Scott McTominay (a 29-year-old midfielder for Napoli), and Rio Ngumoha (an 18-year-old winger for Liverpool).
It is somewhat surprising not to see a PSG player included, given their impressive win against Barça—a match that featured several standout individual performances (from the likes of Lucas Hernandez, Désiré Doué, Vitinha, and João Neves). However, such is the fierce level of competition in this elite tournament.
