On Tuesday at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-2 victory over FC Barcelona on matchday 3 of the 2026-2027 Champions League. As we now do after every match, we asked our readers to vote for the best PSG player of the game. Lucas Hernandez (the 30-year-old defender) came out on top.
Hernandez: 55%.
Doué: 19%.
Vitinha: 18%.
Pacho: 4%.
Neves and Ruiz: 2%.
Torres, Safonov, Marquinhos, Hakimi, and Kvaratskhelia: 0%.
It was a fantastic achievement for Hernandez, who was widely considered the team’s weak link heading into the match. Not everyone was confident in his ability to step in for the injured Nuno Mendes. In the end, however, he was one of PSG’s best players, successfully keeping Lamine Yamal in check. The defender even added an important goal from a corner kick—a performance that certainly left a strong impression.
Perhaps most notable is that players like João Neves and Fabian Ruiz received so few votes, yet it doesn’t come as a major surprise—even though they were both excellent. That said, Hernandez, Désiré Doué, and Vitinha were certainly deserving of their votes. Above all, it was a stellar collective performance.
In any case, thank you for your votes. As a reminder, the top three players from each match are taken into account for our “Player of the Month” selection.
