Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-5 victory against Le Havre this Friday at the Stade Océane, as part of the 9th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. Following the match, PSG manager Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “It means that we are becoming better prepared with every match.”
Was this Achraf Hakimi’s big night?
That depends on what you saw. What I saw was a team that overcame conceding a goal. We didn’t deserve to concede, but Le Havre executed some good counter-attacks. Looking at everything that happened during the match, I’m pleased. We saw some strong performances from players who don’t get much playing time; it shows that we are becoming better prepared with every match.
Luis Enrique: “He is the best right-back in the world.”
Have you ever seen a defender score three goals and provide two assists before?
Well, Hakimi was captain today, and we know his quality perfectly well. He’s essentially an attacker—he’s often further forward because he has the ability to make runs, take shots, and deliver passes. When we have the ball, he is, for all intents and purposes, an attacker. And when we don’t have the ball, we are all defenders. He is the best right-back in the world. I’m not just excited because he scored a hat-trick—though that is magnificent—but rather because he is always ready to perform at the highest level. That highlights just how important it is to have Hakimi in the squad.
Five goals with a rotated side—what does that say about your group?
Our goal is to compete for every trophy, and to do that, we need every single player. With the injuries we’ve had, there are more opportunities to give playing time to those who don’t feature as often. It’s important for us to show that we are a true team and that we still have room to improve.
Luis Enrique: “That’s what it means to be comfortable.”
What about Godts’ week? “It’s been a wonderful week for him. He scored the opening goal in the last match, and he’s become a father—congratulations to the mother and the family. He’s also continuing to grow in confidence; that’s what it means to feel comfortable. Today, he did almost everything right. He has the ability to dribble, to shoot, and to provide assists. He shows great focus when defending—maintaining a very high defensive standard—which is crucial for an attacker at Paris. I’m always especially pleased to see a player adapt so quickly.”
What did you ask of Akliouche, who played more of a holding-midfield role tonight?
“Maghnes can play anywhere; I particularly value his ability to play both with and against the ball. Today, he channeled a bit of Vitinha. I love his mobility and his capacity to contribute whether he has the ball or not.”
Luis Enrique: “To be an important player at PSG, you have to be at a very high level.”
Four ‘Titis’ [PSG academy graduates] on the pitch tonight?
It’s difficult to maintain that level of quality. We are a team with many young players, including several ‘Titis.’ It’s not easy for them to break into the side. David Boly has shown that he is improving through training with us; he’s becoming more comfortable. Now is the time to give them some minutes, but we have to be careful. To be an important player at PSG, you have to be at a very high level—that’s a challenge for both an academy graduate and a player arriving from elsewhere.
Luis Enrique: “I want to enjoy this and look to further improve our level.”
What about your record for the most wins (127) at PSG?
I’ve never really kept track of things like that. What I said on my very first day was that I wanted to make history. That remains my motivation—to continue making history. I am fortunate and happy to be at one of the best clubs in the world, alongside the president, the sporting director, and the fans. It’s an incredible city. I want to enjoy this and look to further improve our level.
