Having arrived in 2021 from Sporting Portugal, Nuno Mendes has quickly shown that he has great qualities. Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain wanted to secure the future of the 22-year-old left-back by extending his contract, which expires in 2026. According to RMC Sport, this has now come to a complete standstill.
This is rather worrying news, especially as it is in line with the latest rumours. This doesn’t mean that an extension is impossible, but it does seem to have stalled today. Rumours probably don’t come by themselves. It could be “just” a pressure point in the negotiations. Except that it would already be something important.
At the very least, there’s no guarantee of an agreement, and a transfer cannot be ruled out today. However, the situation could still change considerably. A month ago, an extension seemed almost a foregone conclusion. Let’s remain cautious as long as there’s nothing official.
