On the day of the inauguration of the Campus PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, took advantage of the RMC Sportprogram Rothen S’enflamme (exceptionally live from the Campus PSG) to talk about the future of the Parisian club’s coach and that of Luis Campos. He began by explaining that he was delighted with the work of both men and hoped for an extension, before stressing that this year’s Champions League results would not condition their future.
Al-Khelaïfi “ Whether we go out or win, it’s exactly the same”
“We won’t change a thing. Whether we go out or win, it’s exactly the same thing. As I said, we have a lot of faith in our coach. He’s doing a great job with Luis Campos. Will they extend? Yes, I’m confident, that’s what we want.
Al-Khelaïfi “ It’s not our aim to put this pressure on”.
Is the Champions League an objective?
It’s not a goal. But I want to say one thing, we play every game to win it. But it’s not our aim to put that pressure on. We have a young team. We need to be realistic. We weren’t lucky with the draw either. But that’s soccer.
It’s rare to hear a Parisian president give so much confidence to his coach. It’s proof that the project has indeed changed, and that we can’t count on yet another revolution. The club’s status has changed, but so has the project. The club’s aim is to build a team capable of winning the Champions League in the long term.
There’s no question of shaking things up this year, as the work has been satisfactory for the president, and PSG seems to be stabilizing itself by giving time to its Luis Enrique/Luis Campos duo.
