On Sunday evening in Atlanta, Paris Saint-Germain qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup with a 4-0 victory over Inter Miami. A success which, as journalist Romain Collet Gaudin points out, has already earned them a further bonus from FIFA.
“PSG will receive at least €48.2 million for qualifying for the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Participation bonus: €27.2M
2 group stage wins: €3.4M
1/8 qualification: €6.4M
1/4 qualification: €11.2M”
It’s obviously a nice addition to the budget, with PSG heading for a record season in many respects. It’s something that should serve to drive the team forward, as President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has stressed on several occasions.
What’s more – and this is harder to estimate – you have to add to these bonuses all the benefits in terms of image and marketing of PSG’s tour of the United States. That counts, and it’s also for the long term. While there are still complaints about extra matches, with a physical impact on the players, it’s easy to see why club complaints are rarer. As for the players, their salaries continue to rise, which is also something to bear in mind.
But we can’t forget to be delighted for PSG, who are on the verge of reaching a new level. Let’s hope they can repeat the feat in the quarter-finals, even though Bayern Munich will be a much tougher opponent.
