Matchday 11 of Ligue 1 saw Paris Saint-Germain travel to the Raymond Kopa stadium to take on SCO Angers. The match was dominated by the Parisians, who rediscovered their effectiveness in the 1st half, but during which defensive laxity allowed the Angevins to score 2 late goals (see the Angers/PSG video summary). SCO midfielder Haris Belkebla spoke to DAZNjournalists about the match :
Haris Belkebla: “You pay the price against the big teams”.
You recovered well in the second half, but it was a defeat for you.
We certainly looked better in the second half, but we went in at half-time down 4-0. They gave up. We managed to score two goals, but it wasn’t enough. We’ve got to rethink our first half, because that’s what’s killing the game for us.
How do you explain Angers tonight and Angers against Saint-Étienne, Marseille or Monaco?
We were up against a good Paris Saint-Germain team. In the first half, we left too much space and weren’t aggressive enough. We were always a step behind and that showed in some of our crosses. All those little details against the big teams pay off in spades. We need to review all that and keep on working.
What should Angers base its next few games on?
We have to remember the way we looked in the second half. We showed more desire and aggression, we got more of the ball and we spurted higher up the pitch. That’s what we need to build on.
When you come from the Paris region, is it always special to play against PSG?
Yes, for sure. Back home we’re not necessarily all for Paris, but I’m from the 93, but that’s more anecdotal for me.
