Paris Saint-Germain and Angers faced off this Saturday at the Stade Raymond Kopa as part of Matchday 11 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. The match ended in a 2-4 Parisian victory (Angers/PSG video summary). After the match, Angers coach Alexandre Dujeux spoke at a press conference.
Dujeux: “ We had to show a different face to upset them.
“We were 4-0 down in the first half, we looked at them too much, we didn’t do what we wanted to do. The risk with a score like that in 45 minutes is to collapse and get a high score. What my team deserves credit for is hanging on.
We won the second half 2-0 and it could have been a lot worse. I’m happy to have seen my team hang on. Paris is a superior team, but we had to show a different face to upset them.
Dujeux “ We watched too much”.
In the second half, the reaction was good, it was the implementation that was not. Paris’ victory is logical, they were superior. The regrets I have are that we didn’t give enough in the first thirty minutes. We watched too much.
But in the end we lost, but by two goals. And once again, the fact that we won the second half is a little cause for satisfaction. We’ve got to keep moving forward,” Ouest-France reported .
It’s hard to celebrate a defeat. Even if it does take some of the euphoria out of victory in Monaco. However, the Angevins shouldn’t be too downbeat either.
They were interesting several times against PSG and could have been closer to the score. They lacked efficiency and were probably a little naive about the Parisian goals. It’s all part of the learning process for the newcomer.
They need to take away the positives, as well as the areas for improvement. There’s nothing to be ashamed of in this defeat, but we need to focus on the next few games, which should be more affordable. We’ll also have to rely on our fighting spirit and late goals.
