This Tuesday at 9 p.m. (CET), Paris Saint-Germain (3rd) will face Bayer Leverkusen (25th) at the BayArena as part of Matchday 3 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. In a press conference, Kasper Hjulmand, coach of the German club, spoke about this match and the Parisian opponent.
“PSG is very aggressive and has quality all over the pitch, but we will have opportunities to surprise them. We are confident in our game, and I think it will be a great battle for possession. Against this PSG, it will be difficult to have possession, but we will try. We can win the duels and make things difficult for them,” comments relayed by 90min.
Obviously, the Leverkusen coach does not want to show too much concern. It would be terrible to talk about a probable defeat. The match must be approached with confidence and determination. The German team, even though it’s expected to have many absentees, will rely on its strengths to make a big impact.
This doesn’t change the fact that Hjulmand suspects there will be some major challenges to overcome against the European champions. The latter must also be wary; Leverkusen won’t be there simply to watch the Parisians play. Maximum intensity will be required. PSG must approach the match well, taking advantage of its depleted injury roster, even though Fabian Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder) and João Neves (21-year-old midfielder) remain unavailable.
