As part of Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face Bayer Leverkusen and claimed a stunning 7–2 victory. Speaking to PSG TV, Willian Pacho, the 24-year-old Parisian defender, reflected on this magnificent win — and on scoring his first goal in a PSG shirt.
Pacho: “It’s very important for me to score my first goal with this club”
“Very happy, very happy. I think it went really well. It’s very important for me to score my first goal with this club. Thank you to my teammates, the coach, and the national team for giving me the confidence and hunger to achieve this. I think I was able to put that mentality into practice today and, thanks to God, I scored my first goal.
You can’t be afraid — you always have to play to win, with the mentality of wanting to win every match.”
Pacho: “I’m very happy with the victory we achieved today”
“No matter who the opponent is, you always have to want to win. Because when you win one game, you want to win the next and keep the momentum going. I also think it’s important to highlight the changes we’ve made — if one player is missing, another steps up. That’s what makes this team different. I hope we keep going this way, keep growing as a team and as young players. I’m very happy with the victory we achieved today.”
A truly special moment for Pacho, who netted his first goal in PSG colors. After a brilliant debut season that saw him crowned European champion, the Ecuadorian has now checked another milestone off his list.
In a match where Paris completely dominated its opponent, the team once again showed Europe what PSG is all about. It’s difficult right now to imagine a side capable of stopping them in this competition. Collectively, the Parisians look a class above, led by a magnificent Vitinha orchestrating play in midfield. Of course, they will have to confirm this status in the coming weeks and months — but for now, PSG is showing exactly why it is the reigning European champion, and more importantly, ready to defend its crown.
