On Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain took on Bayern Munich on Matchday 5 of the Champions League (1-0 video summary here.). After the match, 20-year-old Parisian midfielder João Neves spoke to PSG TV about the result.
Neves: “I think the team stuck together”.
“I think it was a tough game, we did our best as in all games. Unfortunately we didn’t score, but we had chances. With one player missing it’s more difficult, but I think the team stayed together until the end and that’s a positive point.”
Another match surrounded by disappointment for PSG, who continue to sink in the Champions League. While the Parisians have nothing to be ashamed of in terms of performance, Luis Enrique and Co are seeing their chances of qualifying diminish drastically with each passing match. Even if there aren’t as many regrets as in previous matches, there’s no reason to see the future as rosy either.
Once again, we’re going to have to build our confidence in Ligue 1. PSG still have three European matches to play and no room for error. Their fate is no longer really in their own hands, but it’s clear that a 3/3 scoreline will give them a better chance of booking their place in the next round.
