Brest coach Eric Roy spoke to RMC Sport after the 2-5 victory over Brest on Saturday at the Stade Francis-Le Blé as part of Matchday 20 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. He spoke of the Parisians’ strengths, and for him, this is not a team to be taken lightly.
“Against Real we could play our game, but not against PSG. Today, everyone is running, attacking and defending. They had possession and ran more than we did. That doesn’t guarantee they’ll win the Champions League, but they’re serious contenders.”
Words that echo all the coaches of the teams that have faced PSG. This team is different, and the results inevitably reflect that. PSG suffocates its opponents, and teams are beginning to see this team as a real scarecrow, capable of running, pressing and scoring. We’re waiting for the end of the season, because PSG will inevitably need to acquire a form of consistency at the highest level.
We need to score goals, and throughout the first half of the season, this has been the subject of heated debate. If, since the end of 2024, we can say that Paris has solved its problems, there’s nothing to say that they won’t come back. Once again, the pitch will do the talking. It’s up to the Parisians to stay focused and keep playing their soccer.
