This Thursday evening, the league-phase draw for the 2025-2026 Champions League took place. Paris Saint-Germain drew Bayern Munich (home), Barcelona (away), Atalanta (H), Leverkusen (A), Tottenham (H), Sporting CP (A), Newcastle (H), and Athletic Club Bilbao (A) as their opponents. According to Opta’s analysis, this is the second-toughest draw of the season, just behind Bayern Munich’s. The calculation is based on the opponents’ ratings according to the pot they were drawn from. For example, Newcastle, despite being in Pot 4, has a very high rating.
Of course, this is only an estimate, and everyone can debate the rankings. But overall, the conclusion is clear: once again, PSG faces a challenging path. Nothing to panic about, however. The Parisians have the resources and must aim for qualification. They showed last season that they are a team to be feared—even if the year after winning a title can always bring its own particular challenges.
Confidence will rest in coach Luis Enrique, his staff, and the players to work as best as possible to overcome the obstacles ahead—without forgetting the ambition of making history once more by winning a second consecutive Champions League.
