Following the outcome of the 2024-2025 Champions League on Saturday, with Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-0 victory over Inter Milan at Munich’s Allianz Arena, UEFA has announced its choice for the “Young Player of the Season” award.
Désiré Doué, PSG’s 19-year-old midfielder/attacker, has made a name for himself, despite stiff competition. The impressive 17-year-old Lamine Yamal springs to mind. But it’s worth pointing out that he’s obviously done very well, with a rise to prominence that reflects the team’s image. And he finished on a high with a brace and an assist in the final.
It’s sensational, and perhaps only the “beginning” of a career that will go down in history. There’s still a long way to go, and we mustn’t relax or lose our way.
