This Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain will be at Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea (kick-off at 9 pm, broadcast on Canal1+) in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie (PSG won the first leg 5-2). On Monday, the bad news piled up for the Blues. While Reece James (26-year-old midfielder/full-back and captain) is ruled out, Malo Gusto (22-year-old right-back) and Wesley Fofana (25-year-old center-back) are doubtful, according to L’Equipe.
“Chelsea’s manager is now facing two uncertainties surrounding Malo Gusto and Wesley Fofana.
The former Lyon player, ill with the flu, did not participate in Monday’s training session. Meanwhile, the former AS Saint-Étienne defender is suffering from muscle fatigue. However, the London club’s management seemed fairly confident on Monday regarding their availability for the squad, without committing to a starting position.”
Chelsea suffered a major blow with the muscle injury to Reece James, a key player and leader of the team. This doesn’t mean the English side can’t pose a threat to PSG, but it will be more difficult. The absences of Gusto and Fofana would be huge setbacks. For now, it’s a bit too early to say for sure; they may well recover. However, they are unlikely to be at 100%.
