In an interview with Tuttosport, the agent of Gianluigi Donnarumma (26, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper), Enzo Raiola, confirmed the player’s desire to continue his adventure in Paris. He also praised Luis Enrique’s human management, underlining the Spanish coach’s positive impact on the Parisian squad.

« Il est heureux au PSG, il reste quelques détails contractuelles à définir !

“His method of managing the group was particularly appreciated.”

Luis Enrique?

He’s an excellent coach, but as we already knew, it’s on a human level that I think he’s made the difference. He’s very close to the players, he’s done everything to make them feel at ease, he works on each player.

His method of managing the group was particularly appreciated. His method is different, because the more we played, the more he rested the team. After a win, he’d give the team two days’ rest and, unusually, he’d make the boys stay at home, even on match day.

Normally, the players would have breakfast at the sports center, then go home and meet again at 6 p.m. for the match.”

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s extension at Paris Saint-Germain is shaping up to be particularly complex, despite the Italian goalkeeper’s declared attachment to the capital club. Donnarumma makes no secret of the fact that he is delighted to be playing in Paris, and insists that his priority remains to continue his adventure in the red and blue jersey.

However, negotiations have stalled, hampered by salary differences and a certain weariness in the face of the recurrent criticism he has received since his arrival in 2021. Although his performances in the Champions League have been praised, the keeper is often the target of doubts and questioning, which weighs on his motivation to make a long-term commitment. PSG, for their part, are seeking to rebalance their salary scale, offering a less generous contract than the one hoped for by the player’s entourage, thus heightening tensions.

In this context, Donnarumma’s loyalty to Paris is real, but it comes up against a sporting and media reality that is sometimes difficult to live with. The club will therefore have to convince its goalkeeper that he is not only a sporting pillar, but also a respected and supported element, if it wants to avoid seeing one of its major assets give in to the sirens of Italy or England.
