After a well-deserved rest, the Paris Saint-Germain players will resume group training this Tuesday, December 30th, at 5:00 PM. This return was reported by Le Parisien on Monday, with good news, as Lee Kang-In (24-year-old winger/forward) and Matvey Safonov (26-year-old goalkeeper), who were injured just before the break, have been called up.
Only 3 players are missing.
“With the exception of Achraf Hakimi and Ibrahim Mbaye, currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco and Senegal respectively, the entire PSG squad is expected back on the pitches of the PSG Campus this Tuesday. Luis Enrique has not granted any extra vacation time, unlike some of his predecessors a few years ago.
Ousmane Dembélé, Vitinha, and Désiré Doué, who were in Dubai on Sunday to receive their awards at the Globe Soccer Awards, have also been called up.” Just like Matvey Safonov and Kang-in Lee, who were injured respectively in the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo.
Note that it’s not certain Lee and Safonov will be ready to train with the group. However, they have been called up, at least to assess their fitness, and possibly because there’s hope they’ll be fit. The treatment room could therefore be almost empty, while Quentin Ndjantou (18-year-old midfielder/forward) is injured for several more weeks (the Parisian newspaper may have forgotten this).
Especially since Hakimi will return to competition tonight in Zambia/Morocco, having been the last player sidelined with a long-term injury. Let’s hope this positive trend continues, which would allow the Parisian squad to build momentum more easily.
