Fabian Ruiz, 29-year-old midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain and Spain, spoke to So Foot in a full interview. A first excerpt was released by RMC Sport, and the Spanish international discusses his ambition in Paris after winning his first Champions League title last season.

Ruiz: “We have to try to win many more.”

“In football, the hardest thing isn’t reaching the top, but staying there. So the challenge for us is to win the Champions League two, three, or four times. It won’t be easy, but who knows? What’s certain is that we’ll do everything we can to get there.

The idea now is for this first star to be a turning point. Now that we have one, we have to try to win many more. I think we’ve seen through ourselves that giving our all is the key to success.”

PSG has achieved something great, with a historic season marked by successes achieved in style. It’s a fine performance to be savored, but the Parisians shouldn’t dwell on it. We can clearly feel this determination throughout the club, through the speeches of president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, coach Luis Enrique, and the players.

They have reached the peak and want to continue, with other titles to win in order to continue making history. The one won last May must serve as a guide for the future, strengthening the team’s confidence and serving as an example of the effort required until the end. The Parisians have experienced difficulties and have been able to respond; this must be a strength for the future, even if there is never a certainty of winning against very strong competition.
