Fabian Ruiz, the 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, spoke to Canal+ following a 6-0 victory over Villarreal this Tuesday at the Estadio de la Cerámica, as part of the fourth matchday of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase.
Ruiz: “It was an incredible match; we were very strong.”
This is a major triumph for PSG—did you expect such a large margin of victory?
Certainly not. First and foremost, I’d like to start by thinking of the player who passed away. It was an incredible match; we were very strong. We wanted to pay tribute to the player and his family. We knew it would be a difficult game—Villarreal is a great team—but I think we played a fantastic match, and I’m very happy to have secured the three points.
Ruiz: “The players who have joined the squad are very strong.”
Are you even stronger than you were last year?
Well, I wouldn’t necessarily say “stronger,” but I think we have a lot of confidence in ourselves. We want to perform well, and the players who have joined the squad are very strong—as are the players coming up from the youth academy. They bring a great deal to the team; we are a strong side, and everyone wants to show what they are capable of. We always aim to win—even though we know it’s very difficult—and we always give our absolute best.
