Paris Saint-Germain beat FC Espaly 2-4 (Espaly/PSG video highlights) this Wednesday at the Stade Marcel Michelin in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France 2024-2025. On the sidelines of the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV about the win.
Enrique: “We can be happy with this qualification”.
“It’s always difficult to play away from home, because there are things you can’t control, like the state of the pitch for example. We conceded a goal on their first chance and then it was more difficult. But of course, in the end it’s a positive result. A lot of teams were eliminated in this round and we can be happy with this qualification. Now we need to recover and think about the match against Lens.”
A reshuffled PSG team managed to secure victory and qualification for the last 8 of the French Cup against Espaly. Although the match was not going well for PSG with their first goal early on, they quickly got back on track.
The final victory is richly deserved and also very important, as it’s never easy to win French Cup matches away from home in these conditions. Now we need to focus on what’s next. In a week’s time, PSG meet Manchester City in the Champions League (Matchday 7), in what promises to be the turning point of the season. And then there’s the tough trip to Lens on Saturday (day 18 of Ligue 1).
