Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca was at a press conference. He chose the moment to send out a message. PSG deserve their title and have no problem getting it early. For him, it’s well deserved, and it’s also important to remember that other teams are competitive and manage to qualify for the Champions League.

Fonseca “It’s a fact that Paris is a stronger team”

“It’s a fact that Paris is a stronger team. Their investment is different from other clubs, and for me, that’s normal. If they can be champions so soon, it’s because they deserve to be. But that doesn’t call into question the quality of the championship. Just because PSG are already champions doesn’t mean that Ligue 1 is any less competitive.

This kind of situation can be found in other major championships, such as Germany’s Bayern. Our championship remains very competitive, just look at the number of teams capable of qualifying for the Champions League.”

It’s good to see a soccer player not crying foul over Parisian domination. We would point out that this title, which could be won very soon, is also due to an exceptional season on the part of the Parisians, who have yet to lose. The fact that they are unbeaten is not just down to their resources.

Since the arrival of Qatar, there have been great teams, great players, and yet none of them have managed to remain unbeaten (note that this year’s PSG are still at the mercy of defeat). The same goes for the Champions League: PSG have often struggled to reach the quarter-finals, and for the last two years they’ve been there at the very least. We can’t wait to see how this season ends.
